Attendee & Competitor’s Information
Definitions
-
ProAm: An Amateur or Professional Teacher/Competitor dancing with an Amateur Student. A ProAm Amateur Student does not teach Ballroom, Latin, Smooth, or Rhythm.

Teacher/Student: An Amateur or Professional teacher dancing with their Student. A Student Dancer does not teach Ballroom, Latin, Smooth, or Rhythm.

Partner Rules:
-
An Amateur or Professional Teacher/Competitor may have only one Amateur Student/Student Dancer per competition.

No partner changes are allowed in any event.

Age Groups & Categories
Juvenile & Junior:
A – U8 B – U10 C – U12 D – U14 E – U16
U8 – Born on or after 31/03/2017, U10 – Born on or after 31/03/2015, U12 – Born on or after 31/03/2013, U14 – Born on or after 31/03/2011, U16 – Born on or after 31/03/2009
U8s may dance in U10s & U12s. U10s may dance in U12s. U14s may dance in U16s

All Juvenile events are restricted syllabus & dress as per BDSA rule book

All Junior events are open syllabus & dress
Adult Age Groups:
A – 16 to 30 B – 31 to 50 C – 51 to 60 D – 61 to 70
E – 71+ F – 80+
Levels:
1 – Restricted
Competitors are limited to dancing syllabus figures up to and including Gold level.
Suitable for less experienced competitors or those new to ProAm competitions.
Restricted competitors may also enter Intermediate level.
2 – Intermediate
No syllabus restrictions, however this level is suitable for those dancers transitioning between syllabus work and open choreography.
Intermediate level competitors may also enter Unrestricted level.
3 – Unrestricted
No syllabus restriction. Open to all dancers but suitable for the more experienced competitors.
No competitor may dance in Level 1, 2 & 3.
Age division is determined by the Student Dancer – proof of age may be requested.
Dancers turning a year older within the competition year can choose to compete in their current or next age category. For example, if a student dancer turns 61 in August 2024, they may choose to dance in Group C or D.
Student Dancers may dance ONE age group lower than their actual age division.
No dress restrictions in any adult events.
A Student Dancer may dance with an Amateur or Professional partner of the same gender without fear or favour.

Competition Entry – Saturday 29th March, ProAm Single Dances, Multi Dance & Championships

All competitors have daytime admission included with their entries.
Those dancers not competing in the evening session require an evening general admission ticket or a Gala Dinner ticket. All spectators require a separate admission ticket for the daytime and evening sessions. Daytime reserved seating is included for our VIP package holders.

Competition Entry – Sunday 30th March, Teacher Student, Solo & Britannia Championships
All dancers, teachers and spectators must purchase an admission ticket for the Sunday session.
Sunday competitors all require an admission ticket, unless included as part of Family Ticket A or B.
For Solo & Couples events, no additional fees apply per competition.
Teacher Student events incur small additional surcharge.
Reserved seating is only available for those purchasing our VIP package.
Entry fees up until the 10th March are listed below. After this date prices will increase. Entries close 23rd March 2025. Late entries may be accepted by the organisers at their discretion. All entries will be confirmed via email to the address supplied. Please bring a copy of this confirmation with you to the event.

*Britannia ProAm Championship is a combined competition with unrestricted dress and syllabus and open to all adult age groups and levels.

Invoice & Confirmation
Once your entry information has been received, we will issue an invoice and confirmation of your entries. It is essential to:

Check the confirmation for spelling mistakes, correct entries, and charges.

Notify us immediately if any changes are required.
We are unable to make changes to entries on the day of the competition.
Please also note:

Admission tickets must be purchased for all teachers and students taking part (where applicable). If not included, the organisers reserve the right to add them to your invoice.

Entry fees must be paid in advance directly to the organisers via our partner, Flymark.

Entries will only be confirmed once full payment has been made.

Please note:

Participants must book their accommodation directly with the hotel or through the hotel’s partner website.

The organisers cannot be held responsible for any personal hotel charges incurred during the competition weekend.
Adjudicators

The decision of the judges is final.
-
Our panel consists of highly qualified and experienced adjudicators.
-
Questioning or harassing adjudicators will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
The Chair of Adjudicators will oversee any decisions regarding ties or issues with marks.
Official Photography & Filming
-
Any video coverage of competitions at the Britannia Dance Championships is the exclusive property of Dizzyfeet Dancing Limited. Competitors or associations will have no claims to the footage or production.

Our professional photography and videography team will capture the event, with photos and footage available for purchase after the competition.
Britannia Dance Championships - General Rules of Conduct
Admission and Attendance
-
All attendees, including competitors and spectators, must hold a valid admission ticket for the respective day/evening session.
-
Competitors are required to be present in the ballroom at least 30 minutes before their scheduled heat as listed in the Heat List. Heats will not be delayed for absent competitors, and no refunds will be issued for missed heats.
Liability and Health
-
The organisers are not liable for lost or stolen personal items, health issues, or injuries incurred during the event. Participants compete at their own risk, and a designated First Aider will be on-site for assistance.

The use of oils, fluids, or tanning products on venue floors or carpets is strictly prohibited. Violations may result in a warning, fine, or disqualification.
Entry and Registration

Competition entries are confirmed only upon submission of complete entry forms and full payment of required fees, including admission tickets, by the stated deadline.

The organisers reserve the right to refuse entry or registration without explanation.

No refunds will be issued for non-participation in heats or inability to attend. We strongly recommend securing comprehensive travel insurance to cover unforeseen circumstances.
Event Management

In the event of cancellation, the organisers will refund only the ticket price. No liability will be accepted for additional costs incurred by participants.

The organisers reserve the right to amend the Competition Rules, alter the event schedule, or combine competitions as necessary. Changes will be communicated to the email address provided during registration. Amendments will not affect prior registrations or ticket purchases.
Refunds and Insurance

Refunds are only available if the event is cancelled. Refunds will not be provided for missed attendance for any reason.

To ensure peace of mind, we recommend securing travel insurance to cover unforeseen changes that may prevent attendance.
