About the Britannia
Since 2019, the Britannia Dance Championships has welcomed dancers from around the world to celebrate Ballroom, Latin and ProAm dancing.
What began as a celebration of ProAm dance has grown into an international event for dancers of all levels, from first time competitors to world champions, while keeping its warm and personal atmosphere.
Britannia brings together exciting competition, evening Grand Finals, VIP ProAm shows and spectacular performances, with Friday’s themed dinner party and Saturday’s black tie Gala Dinner adding to the occasion.
Organised by James and Kelly Prouton, Britannia remains true to its founding belief: ProAm dancers deserve to be the stars of the show. That spirit shapes the welcome we give every competitor and guest.
“It’s not just a competition — it’s a celebration of movement, artistry, and connection.”

In 2023, Britannia was proudly voted the UK’s No1 ProAm competition, reflecting the care we put into the experience of every competitor and guest.
Our 2027 programme features:
-
Friday: International Latin, American Smooth and Argentine Tango
-
Saturday: International Ballroom, American Rhythm and Caribbean Mix
-
Sunday: Open Couples, Children’s Teacher–Student, Solo and BDSA Sovereign League events
-
Evening ProAm Grand Finals, VIP ProAm shows and Professional Ballroom and Latin competitions
Our Crown Awards teacher rewards programme and Top Teacher cash awards provide further recognition for the teachers who support their students throughout the weekend.

World Cup ProAm Series
Britannia is proud to be part of the World Cup ProAm Series, an international network of competitions connecting ProAm dancers, teachers and studios across Europe, the United States and beyond.
For 2027, Britannia is once again a Double Points Event, offering competitors the opportunity to earn twice the standard points towards their World Cup ProAm Series rankings.
It is an opportunity to combine a welcoming British competition with an international dance journey, whether you regularly travel on the circuit or are joining us for the first time.
Our Friday and Saturday programmes include World ProAm Dance Cup events, with evening Grand Finals bringing the excitement of the competition into our dinner celebrations.
Alongside the Series, Britannia offers its own Crown Awards teacher rewards programme and Top Teacher cash awards, recognising the teachers whose commitment helps their students shine.
Come for the competition, enjoy the atmosphere and make your Britannia performances count towards your season.
“The goal of the Series is to elevate and connect the global ProAm community, one exceptional event at a time.”
In Partnership with the BDSA
Britannia has proudly supported the British DanceSport Association since the association began in 2023, sharing its commitment to putting dancers at the heart of the sport.
Following the launch of the BDSA Sovereign League at Britannia in 2026, we are delighted to welcome the League back on Sunday 14 February 2027.
Our Sunday programme brings together Open Couples competitions for all ages, Children’s Teacher–Student events, Solo competitions and BDSA Sovereign League events.
We value the BDSA’s focus on fairness, inclusion and opportunity, and remain proud to support its work within British DanceSport.
Together, we look forward to welcoming dancers, teachers and families for a full day of competition in a friendly and supportive atmosphere.
Supporting Our Community
At Britannia, we believe in using dance to make a difference.
Over the years, we’ve proudly supported a range of charitable organisations through fundraising, visibility, and community involvement.
Our partnerships reflect the values we hold as an event — compassion, connection, and making a lasting impact beyond the competition floor.
Charities we have supported include:
The Rose Road Association
Wessex Heartbeat
British Heart Foundation
Southampton Hospital Charity
We look forward to continuing this tradition of giving back in 2027 and beyond.
